OEM bumpers often don’t match the rest of the vehicle and at some point, most shops have had to answer the question “Why?” to overcome their customer’s concerns. There are 4 basic reasons why the color may differ:
- A color can vary depending on the substrate on which it is painted. For example, metal vs. plastic.
- The body was painted separately from the bumper, at different locations, using a different application method.
- Slight adjustments can be made during application which may cause the metallic or mica to lay down differently.
- Light reflects differently on curved vs. flat surfaces causing the appearance of a color shift.
